# How Minting Works

Before any minting occurs, you must create invite lists:

* **Deployer** - For self-minting or airdrops without public mint costs
* **Whitelists** - For free mints, discounts, early access to other communities also self mints
* **Public** - Required for open minting

NFTs mint in sequential order from 1 to your max supply limit. If you need shuffled metadata, use the shuffling scripts in [useful-links](/knowledgebase/creators/useful-links.md).

Once max supply is reached, no further mints are possible from any list. Before increasing supply:

* Ensure sufficient metadata is prepared
* Set proper expectations with your community
* Increase max supply via Contract Methods tab or directly on Blastscan
